This love story began on Tinder

A number of stars needed to align for us to meet, and some how they all did. We connected on Tinder and right from the very first message out conversation flowed easily. It was so easy and so fun talking to each other. We were both looking for long term relationships, but neither of us thought that we would find them when we did.

Our first date, our first face to face meeting took place on June 5th, 2016. We met at Omand’s Creek. Adalyn had a birthday party, and my parents watched Corvin, allowing me to sneak away for this first date.

Every day since our first communications on June 2nd we would message each other. Right from that very first day our communication was amazing. We are so natural and at ease with each other.

The first month

Every day since our first communications on June 2nd we would message each other. Right from that very first day our communication was amazing. We are so natural and at ease with each other.

Nicole invited me to go with her to the City and Colour concert, and without a hesitation, I said yes. Going into this date I had the intention of holding her hand for the first time. Throughout the evening I just couldn’t quite get my confidence up to hold her hand. I was worried she would think the gesture was me moving too fast.

The concert ended and we were walking back to the van. Finally, when we were about 30 seconds from reaching the van I knew it was now or never.

I looked at Nicole and said, “Sorry it has taken me so long to do this,” and then I took her hand in mine. She laughed and squeezed my hand back. She then said, “Now we only get to hold hands for 30 seconds.” We held hands in the van all the way back to her apartment. We gave each other a big hug in the van before ending the night.

That evening she texted me and said, “Next time you don’t have to wait so long to hold my hand.”

The next day I send her this picture. It’s how I felt while trying to get my nerves up to hold her hand.

Going public

On July 3rd we went Facebook official with our relationship!! We were both very nervous, but very excited at the same time. We decided to use June 5, 2016 as our anniversary date as this was our first date, our first in person meeting. I was feeling more nervous than my first meeting with Nicole’s parents!

We received overwhelming support from our friends and family. It is wonderful to have so much love and support surrounding us.

Folk Fest

While Nicole has an all-weekend pass, the kids and I only attended a single day on Saturday. At this time the kids had only known Nicole for about a week and a half but the bond between them was already growing strong. Adalyn often held Nicole’s hand while walking around the grounds. We all had a wonderful time listening to music and having fun in the kids tent.

Camping at Rushing River

Our first camping trip as a family. Nicole camped at Rushing River numerous times throughout her childhood. I’ve only camped at Rushing River a few times, but love camping and couldn’t wait to go as a family. We stayed for 4 nights and had a wonderful time hiking, swimming, and playing on the playground.

Every single day we are falling more and more in love with each other, and every day we feel more and more like a family.

Our four month anniversary – October 5, 2016

I love special dates and decided to propose to Nicole on our four month anniversary. The proposal was beautiful, and she said yes!
